Two new art exhibits will be opening at the Art Association of Oswego on Saturday, September 17th with a public reception from 7 to 9 pm. In the upstairs gallery will be an exhibition of photography by two area artists entitled Journey West. Both Kimberly Rossiter and Charlotte Arcadi, while often pursuing other media and forms of art, took time over the last year to travel westward and document their respective journeys photographically.
Together their work combines to make a contemporary statement about life in the Western United States while giving the community an in-depth look into many of our national treasures. They ask: “Have you ever hiked into the Grand Canyon or into the Wave, touched a wild Mustang, or heard the thundering hoof beats of a buffalo round up?” Their work will make the West come alive in sepia tones and in full color.
The downstairs gallery will feature a solo show of Beth Sotherden’s watercolors. Beth won the coveted solo show award at last years Art Association member’s exhibition. Her exhibit titled The Intimate Landscape will consist of abstract landscapes with her characteristic richness of texture and color.
The Art Association of Oswego is located in Fort Ontario Park at the northernmost end of East 4th Street in Oswego. This reception is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. Regular gallery hours are from 10 am to 1 pm on Saturdays and from 1 pm to 4 pm on Sundays. This exhibition will run until Sunday October 16th.
