This introductory course will focus on the fundamental techniques and concepts of watercolor such as a flat wash, graded wash, direct painting, charging, glazing, and dry brush techniques. Students will become familiar with the basic watercolor materials and develop proficiency in applying various fundamental watercolor techniques as they develop their images. Special effects such as spattering, masking out, sponges, and adding salt to create textures will also be discussed.
- Age and/or skill level: adults (age 16+); beginner – no prior painting or drawing experience is necessary

- Location: AAO – Fort Ontario Complex (north end of E 4th St), Oswego.
- Cost: $72 for AAO-member; $84 for non-members; plus supplies (contact instructor for a list of supplies you must bring with you to class).
- Instructor: Kimberly Rossiter – has Master of Science in Education; New York State certification for Art Education K-12; 30 hours of college level art coursework in drawing, watercolor (with Professor Judith Benedict @ SUNY Oswego), oil painting, printing, ceramics, history, etc.; studied watercolor with Patricia Tanner at The Salmon River Fine Art Center in 2009-2010; and has taught 2 sessions of Intro to Watercolor @ AAO in 2012.

Pre-registration & pre-payment is required. We cannot hold a class at these costs unless we have a minimum of 4 students.
