This workshop will focus on creating flowers on tile using alcohol ink. Various techniques will be used to move the ink around the tile, including blowing air through a straw, using canned air to move ink around to create more dramatic flowers by layering two different colors creating a glazing effect, and using an air compressor for a bit more advanced painting techniques.
Students will be given four 4” x 4” white tiles to paint on. Once the paintings are dry, students will be able to seal them with varnish to protect them from damage.
Alcohol ink is very staining and vinyl gloves will be provided. Students should expect to get ink on their clothes and dress appropriately (aprons/smocks are recommended). We will be using 90+% rubbing alcohol and it is odorous. Those with sensitivities to odors may want to refrain from taking this workshop.
