2024 Lakeside Statewide Exhibition
Opening Reception

An impressive gathering crowded the AAO galleries and the Oswego Players Theatre on March 16 for a festive evening of art, awards, and music.

The Jimi Marley Trio provided the entertainment with their mix of reggae, Americana, and blues.

Awards were given for Best in Show, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places, a special Printmaking award, and six honorable mentions. You can view the award-winning works here.

The exhibition runs through April 14. Come see the wide variety of artwork from across New York State!

AAO Open House: Music As Art

Avalon
Avalon
Frank and Julie

The AAO was hopping on Sunday afternoon, Feb. 4, as we kicked off our Fab Feb Music as Art open house. The galleries were filled with Frank and Julie-related posters and guitars in the upstairs gallery and AAO exhibition posters in the Beason Gallery, with a special display of posters from the Oswego Players showing their wide range of theatrical performances outside the theatre.

There were demonstrations in the classroom, pottery-making in the ceramics studio downstairs, and music!

The duo Avalon took the stage first with their fun songs about life and love. You may have seen them at last year’s Lakeside Statewide Exhibition opening reception, and it was great to have them back.

Next, Frank and Julie with drummer Aaron took the stage with their wonderful reggae-rock style, playing new arrangements of familiar songs such as “Johnny B Goode” and “No Woman No Cry” and originals by Frank.

A great time was had by all! For a little taste, a video snippet is on the left for your enjoyment. (Audio isn’t great, but I hope you get the cool vibe!)
