ART for YOUth – Ceramics for Teens

In this introductory ceramic course, we’ll be making several projects using slab construction. We will have 2 functional projects (a darted mug & a tripod vase) and 1 purely decorative project (a mask).

All 3 projects will be constructed during the first 4 classes. Class will not meet during the week of July 19 to allow time for air drying & bisque firing. The final 2 classes will be for glazing. Artwork will be fired a final time and be available to pick up at the AAO as of Monday, August 1.

Participants must be able to attend all 6 classes; there will not be any time to catch up if you miss a class.

Dates/Times: This 3-week class meets Tuesday & Thursday mornings, 9-11:00 AM, from July 6 – July 29 (skipping the week of July 19).

Change: On Tuesday July 27 and Thursday July 29, the class will run from 2:30pm to 4:30pm

• Age and/or skill level: teens – no prior ceramic experience necessary. However, if a student has prior ceramic experience, his/her projects can be adjusted accordingly.
• Location: AAO – Fort Ontario Complex (north end of E 4th St), Oswego
• Cost: Instructional fee: $25. All tools and materials included in the price.

• Instructor: Lauren Siskavich – Lauren is a certified Art Teacher currently working at Hannibal High School. I love being involved with the Art Association of Oswego and often teach courses there in the summer.

Pre-registration & pre-payment are required. We cannot hold a class at these costs unless we have a minimum of 4 students. Please register using the form below. You will have the option to pay immediately directly from the registration form using PayPal, or pay later using a check or money order. If the class is cancelled by the AAO, or if you cancel at least 7 days prior to the first class, your entire payment will be returned. Payments are otherwise non-refundable.

Checks or Money Orders should arrive at least 7 days before the start of class. If there are fewer than 7 days before class starts and you want to pay by check, you need to contact us first. Checks should be made out to “AAO” and mailed to us at: PO Box 271, Oswego NY 13126. Please note the class name & participant name on the memo line of your check.
