Creating With Colored Clay (March-April)

This class will explore colored clay techniques for both hand-building and wheel-thrown pottery. Students will mix and prepare colors into white clay, and experiment with marbling, agate for wheel work, nerikomi and carving into layers of clay. Hand-building will be created by utilizing molds, or freestyle with pinch, coil and slab methods.

This 6-week class meets Sundays, 11 AM -2 PM, from March 7 – April 18, 2021

• Class size limit: 6
• Age and/or skill level: adults = 16+, no prior ceramics experience necessary

• Cost:  $230 for AAO members or $290 for non-members. All supplies included.
• Class fees include ONE free Open Studio session per week for the duration of the class, and 2 free Open Studio sessions to be used after class ends to finish up projects made in class. These studio allowances are offered on a “use it or lose it basis” – they may not be carried forward to another week. Additional Open Studio time must be paid for at the current going rates.

• COVID SAFETY: Each student must wear a mask over nose & mouth while inside our building. Each student will be given a toolbox with a set of personal tools to use for the duration of class. Each student is expected to make use of provided supplies to clean & sanitize their work station after each class (including any studio tools borrowed), and may also do so before each class if they choose.

Pre-registration & pre-payment are required. We cannot hold a class at these costs unless we have a minimum of 4 students. Please register using the form below. You will have the option to pay immediately directly from the registration form using PayPal, or pay later using a check or money order. If the class is cancelled by the AAO, or if you cancel at least 7 days prior to the first class, your entire payment will be returned. Payments are otherwise non-refundable.

Checks or Money Orders should arrive at least 7 days before the start of class. If there are fewer than 7 days before class starts and you want to pay by check, you need to contact us first. Checks should be made out to “AAO” and mailed to us at: PO Box 271, Oswego NY 13126. Please note the class name & participant name on the memo line of your check.
